test1. What brand of kids bikes do you sell?
We sell Scott, Avanti, Malvern Star and Raleigh.
2. How do I choose the right size kids bike?
Kids bikes come in many different sizes, this sizing will often be a measurement of inches. This measurement is the wheel size of the bike, for example a 12 inch kids bike has 12 inch wheels. An approximate guide for kids bike sizing is as follows, 12 inch bikes for kids aged 2-4 years old, 14 inch bike for kids aged 3-5 years old, 16 inch bikes for kids aged 5-8 years old, 20 inch bikes for kids aged 8-11 years old and 24 inch bikes for kids aged 9-13 years old. Check out our complete size guide here.
3. What brands of helmet do you stock?
At My Ride we stock a range of quality products including Giro Helmets and Scott Helmets. All of our helmets pass the required safety standards and are available in a range of styles and sizes.
4. What size helmet should I buy?
Making sure that your helmet fits you properly is critical in ensuring you’re getting proper protection. If your helmet is fitted loosely, it may not stay in place during an accident and do its job; on the other hand, if your helmet is too tight and small it will result in the helmet being uncomfortable. Whether it’s a road bike or mountain bike helmet, helmets come in different sizes which fit a range of head diameters. Each brand and make will fit differently. The first step is to measure your head diameter which will give you an idea of the size range your head fits into. For further assistance, we recommend heading down to your local MyRide store to test out a few different models and workout which helmets fit your head best.
5. Is it ok to not wear a bike helmet?
In Australia it is a legal requirement to be wearing a helmet at all times when riding a bicycle. Helmets are very important as they protect your head from injury and studies have shown that helmets greatly reduce the risk of head injuries. Here at My Ride we stock a large range helmets from majors brands such as Giro and Scott.
6. What safety gear should my child wear while riding a bike?
7. What accessories should I consider for a kids' bike?
Accessories to consider for a kids' bike include a water bottle holder, a bike lock, a bell, reflectors or lights for increased visibility, and a basket or rack for carrying items. Consider the needs and interests of your child when choosing accessories.
